Since the middle of the 19th century and through WW2 the "Chirra" Kukri with its beautiful shallow fullered blade has been popular among warriors and its users. It became a popular style among Gurkha officers and soldiers for its agitile properties and lethalness in battle.

"Chirra" refers to the shallow fullers in the belly of the blade or a hollow grind of the edge, of which two or three may be used on each side of the blade, giving the names Dui-chirra (2) or Tin-chirra (3) depending on how many fuller lines there is on the blade. The chirra Kukri is lighter than a non-fullered blade without sacrifing the strength or blade integrity, allowing a fierce deep cut and a more flexible handling of the knife in use.

Heritage Knives WW1 Gurkha Officer´s Dui-chirra Kukri is a finely hand forged with new high carbon steel Kukri knife based in military history and Gurkha heritage, made for use, no non-sense. Our almost 16” blade Kukri is based on a non-standard issue, WW1 Kukri which we have in our collection and with our black-smiths and team to use as a reference while making the reproduction. The original piece is used as the reference base for our reproduction and with our craftsmen in the workshop,

so the reproduction is as close as possible in looks, measurements and feel.

The reproduction is a fantastic, lethal, long, easy to control and well balanced fighting Kukri made for heavy use and/or collecting as used a century ago.

Use your Kukri knife with care and consideration of your own and other lifes.

The Kukri is both a utility tool and afighting knife and should be treated with respect.

The Original from WW1 (right) & Heritage Knives reproduction (left).

It is important for us at Heritage Knives that our Kukri knives not only look like the original but also keeps the soul and feel of the original. More importantly that the reproductions function and perform to its expectations/duties/tasks.

Therefor we pay attention to small and larger details and NEVER mass produce.

Minor adjustmets are at times made to the reproduction. For example on the Kukri here, WW1 Gurkha Officers Dui Chirra Kukri,we have:

1. Increased the handle size so that the new Kukri can be held firmly.

2. The ring on the handle is rounded allowing greater comfort.

3. A Stainless steel butt-plate is added to which the stick tang is attached, making the handle and overall Kukri stronger.

These adjustments are needed for several reasons and only done when necessary. The average hand size of the original user of the antique Kukri and our users/customers today are different, humans over the past century have grown larger, including hand sizes. It is important you can hold the Kukri firmly and with comfort.

The blade itself we leave as close to the original as possible.
